Waxing is a semi-permanent hair removal technique that removes hair from the roots. It leaves the wax area smooth and free of hair for atleast 3-8 weeks. It's important to prep your skin before you come for wax to ensure best results.
Here are some tips on how to take care of your skin before waxing -
- For best results: Make sure your hair is at least 1cm long before you visit.
- If you’re worried about the hair being too long don’t be, leave the growth as it is , if needed I’ll trim it.
- Don’t expose the area that’s to be waxed to the sun before the visit.
- Lightly exfoliate the skin a couple days before . This will make the area cleaner and well prepped, get rid of dead skin.
- Avoid putting on any lotions before you come in.
- Ibuprofen. If you're concerned about the potential for pain, take ibuprofen 20 minutes before your appointment. Some believe it works, others believe it doesn’t.
- Take a deep breath, to try to relax your muscles once you get on the waxing table.
- Know that it gets better. I get that first timers don't know what to expect. My advice is to acknowledge that the first one will be the most uncomfortable, especially if you've been shaving prior to it. However, it doesn't have to be the worst thing you've ever done. Every wax after the first one gets easier, especially when your hair starts growing in finer and we weaken that follicle.
- Shower before your appointment please, to ensure the treatment area is clean.
- Avoid active ingredients a few days prior to waxing to avoid a reaction from occuring.
